The Geosystems Research Institute (GRI) at Mississippi State University is seeking a motivated Assistant/Associate Research Professor with demonstrated experience and expertise in machine learning and advanced data analytics techniques to lead applied research efforts in agriculture, conservation, and related fields. The research professor will lead funded research projects and be expected to seek new funding opportunities. The successful candidate will be involved in group, as well as lead single PI, research projects. The research professor will also be encouraged to lead innovative research in areas such as climate resilience, precision agriculture, natural resources, and conservation technology, utilizing machine learning, and geospatial intelligence applications. The Animal Care Trainee will be working at the Tulane National Primate Research Center located in Covington, Louisiana. The Animal Care Trainee learns to perform routine duties associated with animal care in a research setting such as feeding, maintaining sanitary conditions, observation, restraint and minor cage maintenance. The Hom Lab at the University of Mississippi is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to help lead a new NASA-funded project to study the biology of desiccation tolerance in microbes. The successful candidate should have a record of research productivity/getting-things-done, project management and leadership, and successful mentorship of junior trainees. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work well with others. The expected commitment is for three years, with the potential to extend depending on annual performance and lab funding. This position is a senior level management and research position with a blend of administrative and research responsibilities. Will develop and implement a research program congruent with colony management research goals and provide mentorship to junior associates and colleagues. Provide day to day oversight for breeding colony resource management related to nonhuman primates: monitoring production, morbidity and mortality, developing statistical metrics for animal production colonies to sustain colony size while simultaneously providing animals to meet Center-wide research programs. Will take a lead role in departmental planning, enhancing productivity and the collection of high-quality, systematic data. The individual will have principal management responsibility for the Colony Management personnel (BC UBM and breeding colony program management). Will contribute to grant writing for resource grants related to the Breeding Colony and/or behavioral management. Works with the TNPRC geneticist and epidemiologist to develop and implement genetic based management strategies to enhance the rhesus macaque colonies. Meet with Behavior Biologist and veterinarians to coordinate research needs. Develop metrics to assess and report on unit performance and goal achievements to support growth and promotion of personnel.
