The Catholic Elementary School Teacher Assistant assists the classroom teacher in delivering instruction that is based on the approved curricula and mission of the school and to create a safe, orderly and Catholic learning environment for his/her students.
The teacher assistant shall:
Catholic Identity

Planning
* Discuss assigned duties with classroom teacher to coordinate instruction.

* Prepare, under the direction of the classroom teacher, instructional lessons for individual students and small groups.
* Plan and prepare various teaching aids to enhance instruction.
* Prepare lesson materials for use by classroom teacher and students.
* Display students' work and prepare bulletin boards.
* Type, laminate, file and duplicate materials.
* Grade and record student work and tests.
Instruction
* Present subject matter under the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher.
* Work with small groups to reinforce what has been previously taught and give remedial help as needed and to reinforce skills.
* Assist students during independent practice times to assure understanding and completeness.
* Administer make-up work and assessments.
* Assist classroom teacher during classroom instruction.
* Help plan and deliver individual and group instruction that includes lectures, discussion and hands-on activities.
* Use assessment data to differentiate instruction to assure that the diverse needs of all students are met.
Classroom Management
* Support and enforce classroom procedures established by classroom teacher which optimize instructional time.
* Support and enforce the rules and procedures established by the classroom teacher.
* Maintain a positive learning environment based on mutual respect and cooperation.
* Set high expectations for achievement.
* Assure that Catholic values are the basis of all interactions.
Communication
* Use formal and informal assessments to inform classroom teachers of the progress being made by small groups and remedial students.
* Attending parent conferences as required by classroom teacher or principal.
* Routinely communicate with the classroom teacher to fully understand what the teacher's expectations are for those students receiving small group and remedial instruction.
* Produce weekly reports for the classroom teacher on what has been accomplished during small group and remedial instruction.
Non-Instructional Duties
* Perform duties such as carpool, recess, lunch and classroom teacher substitution (as required).
* Sponsor clubs and other school activities (as required).
* Attend Home and School meetings and other after hour's school events (as required).
* Participate in all required faculty and professional development meetings (as required).

The Public Programs Aide helps create an engaging and welcoming environment for guests of all ages. This role focuses primarily on facilitating birthday parties and facility rentals, staffing outreach booths at community events, and supporting a variety of public programs with marketing and logistics support throughout the year. Reporting directly to the Public Programs Assistant, this position offers an excellent introduction to museum education and recreational programming. The Public Programs department is overseen by the Public Programs Manager.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience or strong interest in community engagement, public programming, and/or museum education. The position requires 15-20 hours per week, including mandatory Sunday hours and at least one weekday from Tuesday to Friday. Occasional evening and additional weekend hours are also required.

A. Mandatory Minimum Age Requirement: This position has a mandatory requirement that applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
B. Mandatory Law Enforcement Commission: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria by the entrance-on-duty (EOD) date to be considered for these positions:
* Currently hold, or have previously held (within the past three years), a National Park Service Seasonal (Level II) or full (Level I) law enforcement commission, or equivalent within the past three years.
* Successful completion a Seasonal Law Enforcement Training Program during the last three years, but have not yet received a National Park Service Seasonal (Level II) Law Enforcement Commission.
* Will successfully complete a Seasonal Law Enforcement Training Program by the entrance on duty date from one of the approved participating academies found at ********************************** NOTE: This is not regular police officer training.
You MUST certify in your supporting documents the possession of at least one of the above criteria. Include your commission number with expiration date, or your anticipated graduation date from an approved NPS Seasonal Law Enforcement Academy within your resume.
C. Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB): Applicants are required to pass the Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB) prior to entering law enforcement positions. The duties of this position require arduous physical exertion involving walking, running, lifting, standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. The Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB) is a fitness test consisting of five different components: 1) agility run - measures the ability to get up from the ground and sprint while changing directions; 2) bench press - measures the upper body strength for one repetition; 3) 1.5 mile run - measures cardio/respiratory fitness; 4) sit and reach - measures the flexibility in the lower back, legs and shoulders; and 5) body composition - measures the body fat. Prior to appointment, applicants will be tested in all five components, but only the agility run, bench press and 1.5 mile run will be measured for a passing score in the 25th percentile (age and gender adjusted) of these components. These procedures will ensure that law enforcement officers are capable of performing strenuous physical training and law enforcement duties. Applicants shall be disqualified for appointment if they fail to meet any physical requirements. Probationary or seasonal employment is subject to termination for failure to meet the 25th percentile in each of the identified components being measured.
2. Selective Placement Factors:
Note: All applications will be reviewed for Park Ranger (Protection) without Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Emergency Medical Responder/ (FR/EMR) certifications. However, EMT or FR/EMR are additional specialties applicants can be considered for. Some parks on this announcement require Park Ranger (Protection) to be certified as an EMT or EMR/FR.
To be referred for the EMT or EMR/FR designation, you must meet the following Selective Placement Factors in addition to the Park Ranger (Protection) qualification standards:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the federal service. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Rigorous field work requires above average physical performance, endurance and superior conditioning. This includes prolonged standing, walking over uneven ground, and recurring bending, reaching, lifting and carrying of items weighing over 50 pounds and shared lifting and carrying of heavier items, and similar strenuous activities requiring agility and dexterity. Duties often involve working in isolated outdoor environments while exposed to severe weather conditions. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Recreation Aide reports to the Recreation, Fitness and Health Supervisor and is an hourly, non-exempt position.

Assists in center-sponsored trips and events including escorting and chaperoning. At times, may drive the students on trips/events.

Maintains Outdoor Recreation facilities, grounds, and equipment in a clean, safe, operational, and pleasing manner. Observes operating instructions available for the Outdoor Recreation Center program to include departmental policies, regulations, and operating standards, command level regulations, and procedures, and local policies set by Flight Chief, Squadron Commander, and/or Support Group Commander. Assumes custody of change fund. Opens center for business. Collects and accounts for fees and sales. Prepares Cashier Reports and other required records and reports. Oversees activities in progress and renders assistance as needed, Closes area at the end of the day. Places equipment in proper storage areas. Reconciles cash with record accountability. Assists at the front counter helping customers with the variety of equipment, programs and facilities we offer. Helps other staff members with projects and customers so that the ORC runs smoothly. Communicates with other staff members so that procedures are uniform. Assists in conducting inventories. Position is a position of trust.
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to includes cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned.
