Qualifications & Skills:
High School diploma or equivalent
Must be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sites
Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record, reliable vehicle with proof of insurance
Outdoor work experience
Ability to read, write and use technology including phone and computer
Preferred but not required: prior experience as field/engineering technician, construction materials testing or related experience
Preferred but not required: Active ACI, ICC and WACEL certifications and/or willingness to obtain industry certifications
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Days and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday with some weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments
Field work on outside construction sites involving long-term standing, sitting and repetitive motions
Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)
You may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day within the Mid-Atlantic region
Some weekend, overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required
Ability to regularly lift and/or move/shake up to 40lbs. (soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus); frequently lift and/or move up to 60lbs. (soil and sand samples, and nuclear density equipment); and occasionally move more than 100lbs. (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples)

Responsibilities:
Serve as the principal Subject Matter Expert concerning the operations of our hyper-scale and diverse production networks.
Establish critical success metrics focused on quality, efficiency, costs, and timing, and modify these as infrastructure and business needs evolve.
Craft and implement operational process enhancements, transitioning improvements into scalable, automated workflows. This includes writing and critically reviewing code to elevate operational proficiency.
Lead thorough analysis of intricate technical problems across networks, encompassing both software tooling glitches and hardware/network setbacks.
Proactively identify potential operational hazards and devise strategies for mitigation.
Facilitate and refine escalation and emergency protocols, conducting comprehensive postmortems and addressing concerns systematically to prevent recurrences.
Foster collaborative relationships across departments like Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Traffic, Logistics, and Program Management. Also, oversee the performance of external vendors.
Join the global operations team's on-call rotation.
Travel requirement: Approximately 15%, including both domestic and international trips.
Minimum Qualifications:
Engineering degree or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
A minimum of 5 years' experience in network operations with significant large-scale network infrastructure exposure.
Proficiency in at least one network domain: IP network or CDN/Edge network, inclusive of topology, protocol, hardware, and architectures.
Proven track record of working within a global team, coordinating with diverse cross-functional groups in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
Skilled in programming with high-level languages like Python, C++, Go, etc., and adaptable to learning new languages, technologies, or APIs.
Demonstrated experience in setting up and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and repair systems for a production network in a DevOps setting.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or substantial hands-on experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related domain (or equivalent expertise).
Deep understanding of TCP/IP and IPv6.
Familiarity with data-driven analysis techniques.
Experience in offering technical direction to external vendors.
Engineering Field Technician
Remote field system engineer job
This role will perform facility route inspections, utility pole measurements, site surveys, assist with permitting and perform QC/QA on our network covering the IL region. Essential Job Functions * Prepare project documentation and maps
* Assist in research and acquisition of permits and rights-of-way
* Use GPS equipment to gather field data for underground permits
* Use field equipment to accurately gather utility line information
* Abide by and accurately issue prints adhering to industry and construction codes, practices and safety standards under the direction of Engineers
* Stay current in new developments in the industry
* Act as a technical resource, providing field support to customers, sales and operations
* Accurately complete timesheets, expense reports, mileage reports and other job-related paperwork
* Communicate with customers about project progress when applicable
* Other duties as assigned
Experience/Qualifications
* Must have a driver's license and be insurable
* High School Diploma or equivalent is required
* 3+ years of related experience, including technical knowledge of telecommunications and/or civil engineering industry, utility construction practices and local governing authority rules for placement of facilities
The position of Engineering Field Technician at MWFN requires the ability to work at remote client sites. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outdoor weather and landscape conditions. Some out of town and overnight travel may be required.
