Can a CNA work from home?

By Justin Parker - Jun. 12, 2023

No, a CNA cannot work from home in most cases. A CNA is responsible for giving basic medical care to patients. They work under the supervision of senior nurses and doctors, performing tasks like monitoring a patient's vitals, changing wound dressings, and helping patients move around. CNAs may also help with a patient's grooming needs.

Most CNAs cannot work from home because the tasks involved are dependent on being physically present for hands-on patient care activities. While CNAs do a fair amount of administrative and documentation work as well, most of their activities involve hands-on patient care, so it is rare for them to be able to work remotely.

However, there are opportunities for CNAs to work from home, although these jobs can be hard to find and limited. For example, some telehealth programs and home health agencies might offer certain remote roles to CNAs. This could involve monitoring a patient or patients via teleconferencing methods or other forms of remote communication channels.
