The Role
Drives company truck to deliver produce to customers on an assigned route. Assist warehouse in storing incoming produce, returning produce to coolers, fuels trucks and trailer refrigeration unit, occasionally pick produce orders, hook and unhook truck from trailer, inspect equipment, load, unload trailer, and breakdown pallets of produce. Fill out and complete required paperwork in a timely manner. Route deliveries in a box truck or tractor trailer
Schedule: Monday through Friday, Day shift with varying start times
Essential Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To
Meets with dispatcher for route and product information (manifest) for days deliveries
Completes visual and hands on inspection of delivery vehicle (Tractor/Trailer)
Checks vehicle oil and water levels, tires, blinkers, leaf springs, horn, headlights, and flashers for proper operation. Loads hand truck and/or pallet jack in truck
Notifies dispatcher of departure time and first stop
Drives to customer location, either a retail location or general food service
Backs into loading dock or pulls into loading zone
Checks in with customer and receives instructions on where to drop product
Unloads pallets of product and transports using electric pallet jack to customer desired location
If requested, driver will down stack product from pallet
Uses hand truck to move individual boxes at certain stops
Receives signature on invoice
Loads pallet jack back on truck with empty pallets
Loads returns on truck
Drives to next stop and repeat
At end of shift, returns paper work to dispatcher
Off loads pallets and pallet jack. Unhooks trailer at dock, and drives tractor to parking area for semi tractors. Install and remove tire chains as needed
Must be comfortable operating a company vehicle equipped with an outward and driver facing dash cam.
Adhere to company policy regarding dash cam usage and data privacy.
Drivers are expected to maintain the functionality of their assigned vehicle's dash cam.
